TV Studio Training
One of the career choices I am considering is becoming a TV Producer. However, as I have had no experience in TV I was ecstatic to undertake a six-week training course at Coventry University’s TV Studio, The Tank. The training included: camera operations, presenting, using a vision board, using a sound mixing desk, setting up microphones, using a prompter, and using the green screen. The classes were fast paced and contained a lot of information. I really enjoyed learning about the vision board because it was completely different from any other technology I had used before, even though the technical language took a bit of getting used to.
In groups we designed a quick morning talk show called ‘Three Minute Mornings’. I was the key organiser of the project, for our group of 14 people. I made notes of the roles everyone was going to be playing and made sure everyone knew where the cameras had to be and who had to have microphones. On the day I worked on the sound desk, which included setting up all the microphones and making sure the volumes were good throughout. I offered to do this role as it was one I felt confident in, as the sound desk reminded me of a radio studio. Creating and recording the show was fun and went very well with the group all working together. This training course has massively increased my skills, and opened my eyes to what it would be like to work at a TV studio. Now that I have learnt how to use The Tank, I will be interested to utilise the area again in future projects.
