Starting Second Year
I have returned to Coventry ready to start my second year of university. I came back for Fresher’s week as I have been assisting the Christian Union with their events and helping the new Freshers who have joined the Christian Union to settle into their new lives in Coventry. This week has also given me time to move into my new flat and prepare for the upcoming academic year.
I am excited to go back to my studies after the long summer break. However, I am not sure what my new modules will bring, but I feel positive that I will enjoy second year as much as first year. I hope that I will be able to maintain my current grades and I am sure with hard work and perseverance I will be able to succeed. I was excited to start choosing my own modules this year. I decided to continue my Add+vantage in Adobe Photoshop with the hopes of passing the Adobe exam and getting an official certification. I also chose to take a film and screen culture module, as when I have previously studied films at A-Level I greatly enjoyed them.
My main hope for the year is that I will start narrowing down what I would like to specialise in career-wise for the future. I believe that the Professional Experience module and Careers in Media module will open my eyes to the opportunities that are out there. One of the reasons I chose to go to Coventry University was the option to take a placement year after second year. Therefore, during this year I will start exploring my options for my placement year and start applying to a variety of companies, to hopefully find an amazing opportunity for the year.
Apart from working hard on my course I plan to continue attending all of my societies from last year. I am especially excited to continue working as a part of Source Radio with Scott and Natasha and to take the show up to the next level. Working on improving our professionalism and also increasing our listener base. I will also be continuing to work to achieve my Global Leadership certificate and I look forward to all of the opportunities I will have through that programme for the coming year.
