3rd Year Fine Art Show

Today at Fargo Village I enjoyed experiencing a Fine Art Show hosted by Coventry University students. I was interested to see the work produced by other departments, and the opportunity to speak to two of the art students made it perfect.

The location was a huge empty warehouse, which created a contemporary atmosphere, but this space also felt a little creepy when looking at some of the more unusual artwork. Whilst there I tried to pinpoint an over-arching theme for the exhibition, and although I concluded that some of the art seemed to link to, social pressures and emotions, places, nature, and the female body, some of these pieces did not fit into these themes.

In addition to the range of themes, the different styles made every single piece of work a surprise. From sculptures to prints, the different use of acrylics, oil and paint, made all the artwork fascinating. One thing that would have been helpful was if the artwork included some explanation of the thoughts or feelings behind its creation. However, it could be argued that the slight mystery around the art allowed the people viewing to create their own interpretation and meaning, which made the experience much more dramatic.
