ALICE WASS
Exploring Media
Week 34
Title
After the Appeal things have been rather busy, with everyone playing catch up and also with new shows starting. For me this week consisted of a lot of interview editing for the Presenters all on very short deadlines. I have enjoyed editing lots of interviews this week and I am surprised that my confidence is still growing and it has begun to feel like second nature to me.
As well as editing a lot of audio I have also been helping Anne by recording audio for her for ‘The Wall’. I really enjoy doing these recordings and after the Appeal having to do so many in such a short time I find it very quick and easy to complete. Meaning I am getting the audio turned around in no time.
I have contained to book interviews for ‘This Is My Story’. It was decided that I would organise the content for a different Presenter who will be hosting the show whilst Ruth is away for 3 weeks in the summer and also for Ruth on her return. It feels strange to be organising content for when I am no longer there, and it does make me feel a bit sad as I have really enjoyed Producing the show over the past year. To help Ruth with once I have left, I have been creating a GDPR approved document of the contact information of the guests I have organised. So far this document contains 157 people which I have organised interviews with since I started working on the show full time in November. I am very proud of myself for being able to make so many connections and to keep finding more interviews and new content to share. Creating this document has taken a long time, and is rather laborious but I am motivated to finish and keep it up to date until I leave so that Ruth has people to fall back on once I finish in August.
I have had a few difficult to organise interviews recently, which has been taking a lot of time. All are interviews which have been requested by management which means they are extra important, however, I am finding with the set time pressures and amount of people to organise it is far more stressful than normal. I am confident that I will succeed and that everything will work out for everyone involved.
This week I have attended another ILM session, which I am still really enjoying. I feel relaxed as I am up to date with all of the deadlines and recently found out so far I have passed all the assignments I have written. With only two more sections left to learn I am looking forward to finishing and receiving a certificate as I believe this will help me when applying for jobs as it is an additional qualification that other graduates are unlikely to have.
This week we have also had a Presenter Team Breakfast, this was a great way to celebrate finishing Appeal and also to welcome Chloe the newest Presenter to the Team. We had a lot of fun socialising and catching up. I am going to be sad to be leaving this amazing team of people as I feel like we are all good friends who support each other.
