I am aiming to work in broadcasting as I believe that it is the most diverse area of media, with so many different sub sections. I am interested in finding out more about broadcasting as a whole, to help guide me towards what I would like to do as a career. At this time I am currently focusing on Radio. Having spent time working in radio studios, presenting shows, creating jingles, and planning content, I feel that I am the right fit for the industry. I very much enjoy producing content to go live on air and interacting with listeners. My long term aim in broadcasting is to become a producer, as I feel this career would suit my skills set and I would enjoy it.

I would like to further explore the different radio genres. I currently host a talk based student radio show, and I am receiving training at a local community radio station. I would love to be able to experience national radio, either for News or Talk or more Music based shows. I would also like to try to find out more about Podcasts and how they are made as I believe these are the future of radio for younger generations. Through exploring the many different options, I hope believe I will be able to find an area I can work in.

Being dyslexic I often find it easier to communicate through spoken words rather than written work, and auditory communication is what radio is all about. I believe my creativity and positive personality comes through when I present on radio, and my organisational skills help me to carefully plan out shows and keep them on track. In radio it is important to find a way to keep an audience interested though sound alone, which is a skill that I will continue to work on, to make me an even better fit for this industry.

‘Let excellence be your brand… When you are excellent you become unforgettable.’- Oprah Winfrey. As a young woman in the 21st century. I always have something to say with thought behind it. I possess the communication skills of a persuasive politician accompanied with humor and whit of a comedian and the knowledge of a wise elder not only am I suitable for role in radio broadcasting. I was made for it. To be a radio personality you need to have personals skills and technological skills which I believe I have acquired throughout my 21 years of living. Confidence is something which took me years to acquire. Coming from a big family, my voice was rarely ever heard. So, I had to fight for it and teach myself to be confident and assertive yet respectful. During my secondary education, it was noticed that I had a talent for the arts and public speaking. With that I joined the debating club, drama society and the school choir VOX as a lead vocalist. I applied that through to my higher education’s using my commanding presence to give various presentations which helped me to hone and polish my skills with talking and listening. So, I’d say I have confidence. Confidence in my ability to talk and allow others to talk and even disagree with people with reason. Applying pressure to a stone make diamonds. I shine ever so brightly. Working within a time constraint is everything I embody. During my A-Levels I juggled two jobs whilst holding my own side projects. I was able to pass my A-levels to a good quality and gain a cult following for my side projects all whilst gaining three promotions in a two-year stint. I took my work ethic with me into my university life having 2 modules run concurrently whilst juggling a demanding job in care. I would say being able to work under pressure to something I embrace and welcome not fear and run away from. Being full of personality comes along with confidence. Being nice lovely witty and smart comes to me naturally. I’m all real nothing artificial over here I gained my personality from people I admired and applied it to my day to day life. A quote that I live by coined by my favourite poet Maya Angelou. ‘My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion compassion some humour and some style. Those words make up the woman that you see today. Even though my technical skills are not as proficient as my personal skill. The willingness to learn is what makes me ideal for this role. I don’t act as if I know everything. I’m open to help and I’m not afraid to admit I need it, because as a human being I should be forever learning

Broadcasting, Broadcasting, Broadcasting! It’s such a big industry but for me personally, radio broadcasting stands out, from live interview to music chill sessions, it’s got it all. The radio industry is such a diverse sector as it incorporates all the different types of media sectors within one which is why it fascinates me. I am equipped with all the skills I need to become a radio presenter that can voice my options on subjects that matter to me as an individual. Michelle Obama said it best. ‘Every day, the people I meet inspire me... every day, they make me proud... every day they remind me how blessed we are to live in the greatest nation on earth.’ I want to inspire and empower people who believe they don’t have a voice anymore. my technical skills are proficient as I am my own producer and director when it comes it my YouTube career, I always have to adapt to using different software and it keeps me on my toes. Being a fast learner is great but asking for help is just as remarkable. In the media field it is important to stay calm under pressure I learnt the importance of this through being the head prefect at my secondary school, as you have to plan for the unexpected and to be a quick thinker. ‘I put a lot of pressure on myself. I think something's not good enough, and I won't stop until I feel like I've made it. I'm never satisfied.’ I live by this quote from J.Cole I’m a perfectionist because I want to create something great a legacy for the generations to come through my voice by paving the way and making a platform for them, that motivates them to inspire others. Coming from a creative background with awards from the TRINITY COLLEGE LONDON having to perform in front of large crowds singing and dancing I was able to gain my confidence which is why I find being in front of a mike stand or a camera so natural. which is why I am suitable for the role of a Radio Personality.
